OPI Cream In My Coffee

Another quick swatch for you today :) It's a simple polish but that's okay, because I'm not always in the mood for something flashier. It's also a good base for nail art, and for glitter~
A few more days until Christmas, so I've been working on a Christmas nail look for another guest post at Adriana Moja. Hopefully I can post the link to that one soon ^_^

Weer een snelle post voor jullie vandaag :) Het is dit keer een simpele lak, maar dat is niet erg, want ik ben niet altijd in de stemming om iets flashiers te dragen. Het is ook een goede basis voor nail art, en glitter~
Nog maar een paar dagen tot Kerst, dus ik ben bezig met een nieuwe gastpost bij Adriana Moja, dit keer met een aantal Kerstnagel looks. Ik hoop snel de link hiervan ook hier te kunnen posten ^_^

This is OPI Cream In My Coffee, a pale off white polish. Shown here are three coats, no top coat. Application was a breeze and it dried rather fast as well. At first I wanted to have My Vampire Is Buff by OPI as a go-to base for nail art, but I like this so much better. And it looks better with my skin tone as well.

Dit is OPI Cream In My Coffee, een lichte off white nagellak. Op de foto hierboven heb ik drie laagjes op mijn nagels, geen top coat. Het aanbrengen ging heel makkelijk en de droogtijd is redelijk snel. Eerst wilde ik graag My Vampire Is Buff van OPI als mijn go-to basis voor nail art, maar ik vind deze zoveel mooier, Ook past deze beter mijn mijn huidskleur.

China Glaze Don't Let The Dead Bite

Today I have a quick swatch for you from a polish that is actually from a Halloween collection. But I think it can also be worn on any other day of the year.
I also have some awesome news to share with you! Last week I wrote a guest post at a blog called Adriana Moja. The owner of the blog is a good friend of mine, and she asked me if I wanted to write a post about my top 10 nail polishes. And of course I said yes ^_^ If you want to read it click here. It's written in Dutch, but even if you don't understand Dutch you can always look at the pretty pictures, right? ^_^ and then there's also Google Translate, but don't believe everything you read there ;)

Vandaag heb ik een swatch voor jullie van een lakje dat eigenlijk uit een Halloween collectie komt. Maar ik vind dat je deze het hele jaar door kan dragen.
Ik heb ook leuk nieuws om met jullie te delen! Afgelopen week heb ik een gastblog geschreven voor een blog genaamd Adriana Moja. De eigenaresse van deze blog is een goede vriendin van me, en ze vroeg me of ik een post wilde schrijven over mijn top 10 nagellakken. Natuurlijk kon ik daar geen nee tegen zeggen ^_^ Als je mijn post wil lezen klik dan hier.

This beauty is China Glaze Don't Let The Dead Bite from the 2014 Halloween collection. I'm wearing two coats, no top coat. You can still see some visible nail line, but it doesn't really bother me. I love this polish because it's really unique, and somewhat like an indie polish. 

Deze mooie lak is China Glaze Don't Let The Dead Bite uit de 2014 Halloween collectie. Op de foto heb ik twee laagjes op mijn nagels zonder top coat. Je kunt nog een beetje wit van mijn nagels zien, maar dat vind ik niet zo storend. Deze lak is vrij uniek, en daarom vind ik hem ook zo tof. Hij lijkt ook wel een beetje op een indie lak.

Color Club Blue Beaded

It's been a while since I last posted something on this blog, and I apologize for that. I've been busy getting myself re-educated so that hopefully I'll finally find a job. I'm studying PHP/HTML5/CSS3 and mySQL so that I can build websites and such ^_^ This takes up quite a lot of my time, so my blog got put on the back burner. But I'll try to resume my posting of once a week :)
Today I have a swatch for you from one of the polishes from the Modern Mosaic Collection by Color Club.

Het is alweer een tijdje geleden sinds dat ik voor het laatst een blogpost heb gemaakt, sorry daarvoor. Ik ben bezig om mijzelf om te scholen zodat ik misschien eindelijk een baan kan vinden. Ik studeer nu PHP/HTML5/CSS3 en mySQL zodat ik uiteindelijk websites enzo kan bouwen ^_^ Dit kost redelijk wat tijd dus het bloggen is naar de achtergrond geschoven. Maar ik ga proberen weer 1 keer per week te posten :)
Vandaag heb ik een swatch van 1 van de lakjes van de Modern Mosaic Collection van Color Club.

This is Color Club Blue Beaded, a mix of blue and white matte micro glitter in a clear base. Shown here is 1 coat of Blue Beaded over 2 coats of H&M Happy Grey. I'm in love with this polish, and it's definitely unique in my stash. It applied smooth and even, no dabbing needed.

Dit is Color Club Blue Beaded, een mix van blauwe en witte matte micro glitter in een doorzichtige basis. Op de foto zie je 1 laagje Blue Beaded over 2 laagjes H&M Happy Grey. Ik houd heel veel van deze lak, en hij is ook uniek in mijn stash. Het lakken ging heel makkelijk, de glitter verdeelde zich mooi gelijk en ik hoefde het er niet op te deppen.

Fabergé Egg Inspired Nail Art

Today I have some nail art to show you. When Easter came around this year I searched Pinterest and Google for fun designs when I came across this page with gorgeous Fabergé egg nails and I knew I wanted to recreate them. Unfortunately I did not get to that until recently, but you know what they say, 'better late than never' XD

Vandaag heb ik wat nail art voor jullie. Toen Pasen dit jaar voor de deur stond ging ik op Pinterest en Google op zoek naar leuke designs voor mijn nagels toen ik op deze site terecht kwam met hele mooie Fabergé ei nagels en ik wist meteen dat ik deze wilde namaken. Helaas kwam ik daar niet aan toe, tot nu dan. Maar je weet wat ze zeggen, 'beter laat dan nooit' XD

My first step was to paint my nails a dark blue color, for this I used Rimmel Blue Vogue. After the polish was dry I used gold striping tape to make the pattern on my nails. Then I placed small gold studs on the places where lines crossed. I finished with a generous coat of top coat. For a first try I think they're rather decent ^_^ I might even redo these with a red or green polish, maybe for Christmas or so~ What do you think, do they remind you of a Fabergé egg?

Mijn eerste stap was het lakken van mijn nagels met een donkerblauwe lak, hiervoor gebruikte ik Rimmel Blue Vogue. Toen dat goed droog was gebruikte ik goudkleurige striping tape om het patroon op mijn nagels te maken. Daarna plaatste ik gouden studs daar waar de lijntjes overlapte. Als finishing touch bracht ik een royale laag top coat aan. Voor een eerste keer ben ik best tevreden met hoe het uiteindelijk geworden is ^_^ Misschien dat ik ze zelfs wel nog een keer maak, maar dan met rood of groen voor Kerst of zo~ Wat vinden jullie ervan, doen ze je een beetje denken aan Fabergé eieren?

Maybelline Bleached Blue

Hi everyone, / Hoi iedereen,

Today I have a swatch from one of the polishes from the Maybelline Acid Wash collection for you. I own all 4 of them (yay for BOGO), but only have worn this one so far. Although, when I was wearing this one on my right hand I had one of the other ones on my Cinderella hand, but I don't have any photos of that XD
I apologize for being a little MIA, but I got distracted by Pokémon X. I'm trying to complete the Pokédex at the moment, so that's gonna take up quite a bit of time ^^; I'm about half-way there though.

Vandaag heb ik een swatch van één van de nagellakjes van de Maybelline Acid Wash collectie voor jullie. Ik heb alle 4 de lakjes van deze serie (yay 1+1 gratis), maar heb tot nu toe alleen deze gedragen. Nou ja, toen ik deze op mijn rechterhand had zat een andere uit deze serie op mijn linkerhand maar daar heb ik geen foto's van XD
Mijn excuses voor het afwezig zijn, maar ik werd een beetje afgeleid door Pokémon X. Ik ben bezig om de Pokédex compleet te krijgen, dus daar gaat best wel wat tijd inzitten ^^; Ik ben al wel ongeveer op de helft.

This is Maybelline Bleached Blue, a bright blue crelly polish mixed with white confetti glitter in various sizes. I used two coats to make it opaque. Application of this polish is a little tricky, at least if you want a few of the big glitter on your nail. Other than that I had no problem. A word of advice: wait until your first coat is completely dry before applying a second one, or else you'll drag the glitter off your nail. There's a reason my thumb is almost never clearly in a picture, since it's usually the fail-nail XD

Dit is Maybelline Bleached Blue, een fel blauwe crelly lak met witte confetti glitter in verschillende formaten. Ik heb twee laagjes gebruikt voor de dekking op de fotos. Het aanbrengen van deze lak is een beetje lastig, tenminste als je een aantal van die grote glitters op je nagels wilt. Behalve dat bracht hij heel makkelijk aan. Een kleine raad: wacht met het aanbrengen van je tweede laagje tot de eerste helemaal droog is, want anders dan veeg je de glitters van je nagel af. Er is een rede waarom mijn duim niet vaak duidelijk in beeld is, omdat het meestal de faal-nagel is XD

Wedding Nails

Hi everyone, / Hoi iedereen,

Today's post is a very special one, at least in my opinion. Yesterday (September 5, 2014) my brother got married to the best sister-in-law anyone could wish for <3 The bride looked gorgeous and the groom also looked very handsome! I was a bridesmaid/maid of honor for my sister-in-law, which was a huge honor. Together with my brother's two best men I acted as a legal witness to the marriage and therefore also signed the marriage certificate, both the one at the city hall and at the church.
For this special occasion I of course needed a fancy manicure to match the dress that I wore. I don't have pictures of me in my dress yet, but I can show you the manicure :D

De post van vandaag is een hele speciale, in ieder geval naar mijn mening. Gisteren (5 september 2014) is mijn broer getrouwd met de allerbeste schoonzus die ik me maar kan wensen <3 De bruid zag er beeldschoon uit en de bruidegom zag er ook heel knap uit! Ik was getuige voor mijn schoonzus, wat een enorme eer was. Samen met de twee getuigen van mijn broer was ik als officiële getuige aanwezig op het stadhuis en in de kerk, en heb ik ook mijn handtekening gezet onder beide huwelijksacten.
Voor deze speciale gelegenheid had ik natuurlijk een fancy manicure nodig die matchte met de jurk die ik aanhad. Ik heb nog geen foto's van mij met mijn jurk aan, maar ik kan je al wel de manicure laten zien :D

As soon as my dress arrived in the mail after I bought it online I already knew exactly which nail polish I was going to use as a base for the manicure. OPI Casino Royale matches the color of my dress perfectly :D I also knew I wanted to add some glitter to it, and after showing my (then soon-to-be) sister-in-law the manicure above, she approved of the idea. The glitter I chose is Nicole by OPI Imagine If... The last photo shows the color a bit more accurately, since it's brighter than in my first two light box photos. I made this one with my iPhone because I wanted to capture the sparkle of the glitter in the sunlight, but didn't have my camera with me.
I enjoyed the wedding a lot, everything went well, the company was good, both ceremonies were beautiful and the food was excellent (the weather was good too!). I want to congratulate the happy couple once more, and wish them all the happiness in the world. I hope you grow old together on the same pillow <3

Zodra ik mijn jurk met de post kreeg nadat ik deze online gekocht had wist ik al meteen welke nagellak ik zou gaan gebruiken als basis voor de manicure. OPI Casino Royale matcht perfect met de kleur van mijn jurk :D Ik wist ook al dat ik iets met glitter wilde gaan doen, en nadat ik mijn (toen toekomstige) schoonzus de bovenstaande manicure liet zien heeft ze hem goedgekeurd. De glitter die ik koos is Nicole by OPI Imagine If... De laatste foto laat de kleur iets beter zien, aangezien die iets lichter is dan in mijn twee light box foto's. Deze heb ik gemaakt met mijn iPhone omdat ik mijn camera niet bij me had en toch de sparkle van de glitter in het zonlicht wilde laten zien.
Ik heb heel erg genoten van de bruiloft, alles is goed gegaan, het gezelschap was goed, beide ceremonies waren heel mooi en het eten was fantastisch (het weer was ook goed!). Ik wil nog één keer het gelukkige koppel feliciteren en ze al het geluk en blijdschap in de wereld toewensen. Ik hoop dat jullie samen oud worden op hetzelfde kussen <3

Purple Funky French

Today I have a simple freehand funky french for you. I've done funky frenches like these before and I really like the way they look. Simple, yet elegant, no matter what color(s) you use.

Vandaag heb ik een simpele freehand funky french voor jullie. Ik heb funky frenches zoals deze al vaker gedaan en ik vind ze er geweldig uit zien. Simpel en toch elegant, welke kleur(en) je ook gebruikt.

For this manicure I started with a coat of my current go-to base coat, Essence Pro White Gloss. Then I painted along the white of my nails with the purple polish Hema Quick Purple. I used a brush dipped in acetone to make the curve neater and more even. I first wanted to use a coat of clear top coat when I saw Nicole by OPI Imagine If... standing on my desk, and I applied that one instead. I love the subtle sparkle it adds to the mani <3

Voor deze manicure begon ik met een laagje van mijn huidige go-to base coat, Essence Pro White Gloss. Daarna volgde ik het witte van mijn nagel met een paarse nagellak, Hema Quick Purple. Met een kwastje gedoopt in aceton maakte ik de ronding wat netter en meer gelijk. Eerst wilde ik er gewoon een doorzichtige top coat overheen doen, maar toen zat ik Nicole by OPI Imagine If... op mijn bureau staan en besloot die eroverheen te doen. Ik ben gek oop de subtiele glitter van deze top coat <3
