Purple Funky French

Today I have a simple freehand funky french for you. I've done funky frenches like these before and I really like the way they look. Simple, yet elegant, no matter what color(s) you use.

Vandaag heb ik een simpele freehand funky french voor jullie. Ik heb funky frenches zoals deze al vaker gedaan en ik vind ze er geweldig uit zien. Simpel en toch elegant, welke kleur(en) je ook gebruikt.

For this manicure I started with a coat of my current go-to base coat, Essence Pro White Gloss. Then I painted along the white of my nails with the purple polish Hema Quick Purple. I used a brush dipped in acetone to make the curve neater and more even. I first wanted to use a coat of clear top coat when I saw Nicole by OPI Imagine If... standing on my desk, and I applied that one instead. I love the subtle sparkle it adds to the mani <3

Voor deze manicure begon ik met een laagje van mijn huidige go-to base coat, Essence Pro White Gloss. Daarna volgde ik het witte van mijn nagel met een paarse nagellak, Hema Quick Purple. Met een kwastje gedoopt in aceton maakte ik de ronding wat netter en meer gelijk. Eerst wilde ik er gewoon een doorzichtige top coat overheen doen, maar toen zat ik Nicole by OPI Imagine If... op mijn bureau staan en besloot die eroverheen te doen. Ik ben gek oop de subtiele glitter van deze top coat <3

Sinful Colors Call You Later

Today I have a swatch of my first Sinful Colors polish for you. I found a display of Sinful Colors at Kruidvat, (a Dutch drugstore) a while back and decided to buy one to try them out. They were really cheap at only €2 for 0.5 fl oz/15 ml :O

Vandaag heb ik een swatch voor jullie van mijn eerste Sinful Colors nagellak. Een tijdje terug vond ik een display van Sinful Colors bij het Kruidvat en besloot er één te kopen om uit te proberen. Ze waren heel goedkoop, maar €2 voor 15 ml :O

On the photos above I am wearing one thin coat of Sinful Colors Call You Later over two coats of Hema 808. Call You Later is a mix of larger green glitter and smaller gold glitter. If you want the glitter to be more pronounced you can add a thicker coat or multiple thin ones. Overall I really like this polish, so I'll probably pick up some more colors next time :D

Op de foto's hierboven heb ik één laagje Sinful Colors Call You Later aangebracht over twee laagjes Hema 808. Call You later is een mix van grotere groene glitters en kleinere gouden glitters. Als je de glitter iets duidelijker wilt hebben dan kun je een dikkere laag aanbrengen of meerdere dunne laagjes. Ik vind deze lak echt leuk en ga er waarschijnlijk nog wel meer van dit merk aanschaffen :D

Hema 836

Hi everyone, / Hoi iedereen,

Just a quick post today, nothing too fancy :) What I have for you is a swatch of a beautiful dark blue polish from Hema, a Dutch store that sells a lot of different things like clothes, underwear, office supplies, food, make up etc. When I was there a few days ago to buy another one of their polishes (nr 808 for the curious among us) I came across this beauty and I just had to have it. Luckily I had some leftover birthday money so I ended up buying both the polishes. It was a happy day~

Een snelle post vandaag, niets al te fancy :) Wat ik vandaag voor jullie heb is een swatch van een hele mooie donkerblauwe nagellak van de Hema. Toen ik daar een paar dagen geleden was om een andere lak te kopen (nr 808 voor de nieuwsgierigen onder ons) kwam ik deze prachtlak tegen en ik moest hem gewoon hebben. Gelukkig had ik nog wat geld over van mijn verjaardag dus heb ik alle twee de lakken gekocht. 'T was een goede dag~

Shown above are two easy coats of Hema 836, a really intense blue color, and no top coat. In direct sunlight it's a little brighter than in my photos. When wearing this polish I recommend two layers of base coat instead of one, 'cause it stains like crazy. When removing it you might want to use the foil method (usually used for removing glitter bombs) to avoid Smurf fingers. Other than that I really love this polish, it looks amazing on its own but is also a great base for glitter or nail art.

Op de foto's hierboven zie je twee makkelijke laagjes van Hema 836, een hele intense blauwe kleur, zonder top coat. In direct zonlicht is hij zelfs nog wat lichter dan in mijn foto's. Als je deze nagellak op wilt doen dan raad ik aan om twee laagjes basecoat aan te brengen ipv één, want hij geeft goed af op je nagels. Wanneer het tijd is om hem eraf te halen dan is het misschien verstandig om dat te doen met de foil-methode (normaal gebruikt om glitterbommen eraf te halen) zodat je Smurfen-vingers kan voorkomen. Behalve dit kleine puntje vind ik de nagellak geweldig. Op zich zelf is 'ie heel mooi, maar het is ook een goed basis voor glitter of nailart.

Hema Blue & Yellow

As the people who live in the south of the Netherlands might have noticed (to be honest, it's hard to miss), the festivity know as carnaval has struck again the past few days. For all of you who have no clue as to what this entails I recommend you go read all about it on Wikipedia here (there's pictures too!). While carnaval is celebrated all over the world, the version in the Netherlands is a rather peculiar one in my opinion. Personally I'm not a big fan of carnaval, but I was going to help out for one night at our local carnaval 'club' with my sister in law I decided to paint my nails in the carnaval colors of the town I live in.

De mensen in het zuiden van het land zullen het al wel gemerkt hebben (niet heel moeilijk te missen) dat carnaval weer in het land was de afgelopen dagen. Carnaval wordt over de hele wereld gevierd maar ik blijf de Nederlandse versie toch maar apart vinden. Ikzelf ben dan ook geen fan van carnaval, maar omdat ik één avond ging helpen bij de lokale carnavalsvereniging (de JJ) met mijn schoonzus besloot ik om mijn nagels in de carnavalskleuren van mijn dorp te lakken.

During carnaval my town is called Dommelboarzedurp and it's colors are blue and yellow. Now my skin tone and yellow don't really see eye to eye so this is probably the only time that you'll see a yellow polish on my nails. Feel lucky ;) The colors I used were two polishes from Dutch drugstore Hema. They don't have names, only a number, which I forgot and I'm too lazy to look them up :P Shown here are two coats for both colors and no top coat. The yellow one did stain a bit, even though I wore a base coat.
Just out of curiosity; did any of you celebrate carnaval the past few days?

Gedurende carnaval heet mijn dorp Dommelboarzedurp en de kleuren zijn blauw en geel. Nou is mijn huidskleur niet de beste vriendjes met geel dus dit is waarschijnlijk de eerste en laatste keer dat je mij een gele lak ziet dragen. Prijs jezelf gelukkig ;) De kleuren die ik gebruik zijn van de Hema, ze hebben geen namen alleen een nummer. Die ik niet onthouden heb en ik ben te lui om het op te zoeken :P Van beide heb ik twee laagjes op en geen top coat. De gele lak heeft wel mijn nagels een beetje verkleurd, ookal droeg ik een base coat. 
Uit nieuwsgierigheid; hebben jullie carnaval gevierd de afgelopen dagen?
